Viet Nam (Constant War) |
by Jeff G. P. B. Ellis |
He was an Indian tracker |
Who plied his skills over in that war |
They said to stop the Commies |
Was the reason for that war |
He trekked out for twenty miles |
To see what he could see |
To find those Viet Cong |
And tell our troops where they would be |
He surely did save lives |
Of men sent there to fight |
But the reason that we went there-- |
Was it wrong or was it right? |
Viet Nam. Viet Nam. |
Is consant war our fate? |
Peaceful answers can be found |
Let's learn to use restraint |
I was eithteen years old |
In nineteen seventy-three |
I worried about the draft then, |
Counting on them overlooking me |
I didn't want to be forced |
To go and kill my fellow man |
To make the world peace-loving |
I want to do all I can. |
I was hating Richard Nixon |
And our government back then. |
Their lousy world view-- |
How they treated our young men. |
Viet Nam. Viet Nam. |
Is consant war our fate? |
Peaceful answers can be found |
Let's learn to use restraint |
Since View Nam had ended |
Yes, there has been much more war |
Peace is so elusive |
We seem as stupid as before |
We won't learn from being burned |
Nor killing others from afar |
Viet Nam after Viet Nam |
Can we get away from war? |
The day mean and agressive men | Are not given any mind |
Then we can live in harmony. | Peace and happiness we'll find. |
Constant war? No constant war! |
Let peace now be our fate. | Find compromise solutions |
And make agression wait. |
