Three Weeks
by Jeff G. P. B. Ellis
It’s been 3 weeks since she’s been gone
It’s been 3 weeks, I’m on my own
It’s been 3 weeks, I’m all alone
Without the one I loved
Without the one I’ve loved
Without the one I’d loved
A restaurant, the movies, taking in a show.
Those are places we would often go.
What I’ll do now,
I simply do just don’t know.
Cooking, cleaning, doing the laundry too.
These are things I would count on her to do.
Now I tackle these chores
When the working day is through.
I walk in the woods to make sure I’m alone
No Facebook on the stupid too-smart phone
So I can know that feeling
Deep down in my bones.
Hugging, kissing, frequently making love
We fit together like a hand in glove
Now I’m feeling so down
And I cannot rise above
